Storylines for Christmas 2020
Written by Christmas Elves from the North Pole (who borrow Father Christmas’ computer!) these Advent letters bring to life a magical world where, as the Big Delivery approaches, the excitement gets the better of everyone and everything, including hilarious inventions, pranks, muddles and mix-ups! Read the delicious (and some not so delicious!) recipes that get cooked up in the kitchen, and follow the Elves' adventures with launchers and light bulbs, rare ingredients and mysterious codes, as well as a newly-discovered Secret Library ... filled with extremely unusual books.
What do the Christmas Elves build out of wooden planks, two alarm clocks, some thick rope, one metal bucket and a golden letter box? What sort of craziness do they get up to when the TV is switched off, and what happens when they eat one of Grandpa Elf’s Magic Doodle Drop Cookies? Be the first to discover this year's 'extras' on Father Christmas' uniform, whether 163 boxes of Extra-Galactic Sparkle Rockets can save Christmas, and if the new Automatic Pyjama Dressing Machine will work as planned … and, as ever, be ready to sew the seeds of Christmas Spirit in everything you read!

Marty
... a Christmas Elf who loves pranks, inventions, experiments and sweets, and is always up to something. And this year's no exception! He’ll do anything to avoid hard work. Or any work ... ideally while eating vast quantities of candy. The question is … will his latest invention, a Fantastically Fantastic Veggie-Vanisher Machine, work out as he hopes?
Lyra
... an Elf who's a total whizz at computers, and is super cool. After a series of rather serious laundry mishaps, she’s just installed a totally mega-whizzy computerised laundry system over in Soap-Sud Cabin. To everyone's relief, she's also added a special Wind-Speed Safety Detector to the washing line ...
Brain Brian Brain
... is the trainee Chef for Mother and Father Christmas! He's a rather forgetful Christmas Elf and gets into a terrible muddle with his words. He decides to practise making a Custard Trifle for a rather special competition. Desperate not to mess it all up and forget what he's meant to be doing, he mutters away to remind himself ... but with a rather 'interesting' result. The other Elves love him!
Lily
...being the most organised Christmas Elf in the North Pole, she's started one of her infamous “Important Lists” to help make sure the Elves get everything done in time for Christmas Eve. Apparently there have been issues with Library Books that won't stop singing (or are far too stinky), gobstoppers being put into the Magical Wind Machine when they shouldn't be (far too dangerous), and now the doorbell to the Elves' Workshop is playing a very unwelcoming tune ... but that's not all! I can only hope all the Elves read the noticeboard ...
Dani
... his list of things to sort out, seems to be growing! Instead of porridge, the Elves' bowls are full of shrunken pyjamas, rotting veggies, old envelopes ... and very disgustingly, dried reindeer poo. Luckily he realises the pipes to the recycling cabin and the porridge machine have got mixed up, and manages to swap them back over just in time!
Stan
... the Chief Miner in the Cinnamon Mine, (and is particularly good at drawing). The Mining Elves making an extraordinary discovery in the back of the Mine ... a Secret Library, filled with BAZILLIONS of books. But these aren't just any old books ...!
Dave The Stitch
... works in Pine Needle Lodge, and has the very important job of making Father Christmas' Christmas Eve uniform each year! Keen for The Big Delivery to go as smoothly as possible, this year's important additions include, amongst other things ... a Snore Counter - to measure the sleepiness of children AND their pets and some high tech goggles … with laser beams to make sure of precise chimney location.

Why Christmas Traditions Are Important
The Christmas season is full of the most magical moments. It's the perfect time for family to get together, share the mutual happiness of this joyful time of year, and create strong and lasting memories for years to come. And there's no better way to start the Christmas magic than to rekindle some Family Christmas traditions. They may be from your own childhood or even using the same style of Advent Calendar you had when you were growing up. Perhaps it's new to you, such as our Christmas Elf Letter tradition, perhaps you've read about a wonderful Christmas Tradition that you'd like to replicate in your own home. Whatever the reason, you can rest assured any Christmas tradition is sure to be loved and remembered by all the family - especially the children.
Family time and Christmas traditions
Christmas traditions help to bring us together as a family. They make our children feel safe as part of a loving group, and they are happier and healthier for it, both in body and mind. During the Christmas season, the routines and rituals are extra special because they only come round once a year. Whether it's reading aloud a special Christmas story together, opening the windows or eco-friendly elf letters of an Advent Calendar - or writing some Christmas poems to go inside the Christmas cards ... or cosying up on the sofa with that reading book that only comes out at this particular time of year. The countdown to Christmas is full of magical experiences - so much more valuable than the presents - bringing together friends and family and giving everyone a sense of warmth, comfort and belonging.
