These Roast Beef Tails are naturally gluten free and are unbelievably tender! Much cheaper than fillet steaks and just divine.
What you need:
- Beef fillet tails
- 1 tbsp Rice bran oil (or another oil that’s nutritious with a high smoking point)
- Preheat your oven to 180 degrees C / 400 degrees F
What you do:
- Heat the oil in a frying pan or skillet.
- Seal the beef tails all the way around – takes 5-7 mins.
- Place in a hot roasting tray in the oven for 6-7 minutes (and not a second more) for it to be cooked as it is in these pictures.
- Cover and let it rest for 10 minutes
- Cut in thick crosswise slices
We had ours served on a bed of peas, onions and (very) finely chopped spinach tonight and it was amazing.

I’ve never heard of beef tails! Can you get them in the supermarket?
I think you will need to go to a butcher – they’re different to oxtail – there’s no bone in them and they’re essentially fillet steak. But cheaper!
