November still feels very Autumnal BUT it is almost the 1st December and that’s when the kids and I start to get all revved up with the excitement of the countdown to Christmas. As well as being VERY excited about Elfie’s Christmas Letters this year (oh yes!), I also love all the other stuff that the countdown to Christmas brings.
One of our lovely neighbours has caught on to the fact that the kids like to display all manner of art and crafts (actually attached) to our front windows. Two weeks ago she presented us with some fake snow and some stencils – official ‘can’t go wrong’ Christmas window art! The kids were of course bursting to do it all immediately but I’ve put the lid on it until Monday.
The endless singing the kids do around the house for their Christmas performances started yesterday. By the time the performances actually come, our heads will be jangling. Our youngest boy (who has Down Syndrome) has been elected to be the donkey in his nativity this year. Now this is for a very good reason: his donkey impression is just very funny. I’ll try and catch a video of it when the time comes ;).
Historically there has been a rather high incident of stage fright at the littlies’ nativity. You know the kind of thing: they either refuse to wear their costume, refuse to go out in front of the parents, refuse to speak or, just in the middle of a dramatic moment, they stand up, burst into tears and plough their way through the sheep, tripping over baby Jesus, to get to you as quickly as they can.
I can’t wait.
