Our kids munch away on these home roasted chickpeas very happily and they’re a brilliant and nutritious high fibre snack. Roasted chickpeas really are so simple to make and with just 2-3 ingredients, depending on whether you want to add any flavours at all, they couldn’t be simpler. Plus they’re very transportable.
Chickpeas have many possible health benefits it seems:
The iron, phosphate, calcium, magnesium, manganese, zinc and vitamin K content present in chickpeas all contribute to building and maintaining bone structure and strength.
Chickpeas are high in fiber, contain potassium, vitamin C and vitamin B-6 content and with the lack of cholesterol found in chickpeas, all support heart health.
Selenium is a mineral that isn’t present in most fruits and vegetables, but it can be found in chickpeas. It plays a role in liver enzyme function, and helps detoxify some cancer-causing compounds in the body. Additionally, selenium also helps to prevent inflammation and also decrease tumour growth rates.
Choline is a very important and versatile nutrient in chickpeas that help with sleep, muscle movement, learning and memory. Choline helps to maintain the structure of cellular membranes, aids in the transmission of nerve impulses, assists in the absorption of fat and reduces chronic inflammation.3
Don’t forget, it’s the total diet or overall eating pattern that’s most important in disease prevention and achieving good health. It’s better to eat a wide variety of foods than to limit yourself to just a few foods.

I am! I made these last year and ate them as a kid-the Cypriots love them as it’s an island full of chickpeas (sounds weird I know)! You’ve reminded me to make some more, yours look dreamy x
I’d love to hear if and how you flavour yours 🙂
Stunning recipe. Love these! Thanks for linking up to #tastytuesdays x
Thank you and glad to hear you’re another roasted chickpea fan!
Thanks for this! Chickpeas in the oven roasting as I type. I need something different for snacks at work! and this is perfect.
They really are perfect for snacking on and so much better for you than some of the other things we all find ourselves munching on 🙂
