That it comes from the leaves of the agave plant, which happens to grow very smelly yellow flowers.

I only learnt this very recently, which I am sure makes me the last person to know. I thought it came from a grass. Anyway, when I told the kids, WB looked at me very witheringly and asked ‘is that meant to be interesting?’ Well yes actually, I thought so.

So, as Elfie’s main helper, I was in charge of cutting a roll of it up ready to tie bundles of International Elf Service envelopes together. Now that I know they WOULD find interesting. Very interesting indeed…
