I was rummaging around the internet trying to find a gluten free playdough THAT ACTUALLY WORKS when I stumbled across this recipe over at Kids Activities Blog and realised it was exactly what I’d been looking for!
Actual 2 Ingredients – Supersoft Playdough (Gluten Free) and IT’S LOVELY!!!
*Amazing you can also make snow with this too – just make a drier mix. The best thing is, it doesn’t melt and you can keep it in an airtight container in the fridge for (I’m not quite sure how long for but) ages it seems. Perfect for playing with, elf antics or sprinkling over your Elfie’s Christmas Letters or your North Pole Christmas Letters!
It’s so easy – just 2 ingredients (I know):
1 part cheap hair conditioner (make sure it’s gluten free if this is important to you)
2 parts cornstarch
And that’s it!
Well you obviously have to mix it. As conditioners vary you may need to add a bit more, or a bit more cornstarch to get a non-sticky wonderfully soft and pliable end result.
(NB: It’s inedible due to the hair conditioner bit!)
Then we added food colouring of course:
But not enough…
And when we’d finished playing with it, we had a bit of volcano fun with bicarbonate of soda and vinegar…though I’m sure what we should be doing is putting it in an airtight thingy in the fridge and using it again later.

Always great to have a new play dough recipe. thanks for sharing it #bigfatlinky
Such a quick and easy way to make play dough. My daughter will love this, thanks for sharing 🙂
It’s a good one to make if you’re away on holiday too! Thank you x
What a great idea! Looks like the kids had loads of fun. I think my 9 month old would love this but I do worry that she would eat it ha #bigfatlinky
Ah yes – it’s inedible due to the hair conditioner, so it might be better to wait until she’s older 🙂
Great post! My friend’s son has a gluten allergy, so I will definitely be sending her this link! #bigfatlinky

Oh yes do – it’s the only one I’ve had really good results from (not to say they’re aren’t others though). Thank you! x
