This is an absolute must if you want the kids to entertain themselves for a while and it’s a variation of the fabulous Sticky Spider Web activity I saw over on No Time For Flash Cards. It’s much harder than it looks and isn’t the same as the Tape & Crepe activity on a previous post!!! Perfect indoor activity for a rainy day!
Rather than set up the sticky spider web (masking tape) in a doorway, we made ours go up the staircase. Then we screwed up bits of tissue and threw them at the tape trying to get them to stick. Brilliant for hand eye co-ordination and gross motor skills. The one who managed to get the most of their colour to stick was the winner, though quite frankly we were all so rubbish at it, it was a miracle that any stuck at all. You can always cheat and make it easier for yourself by using super sticky gaffa tape!
After a while, the youngest one got bored of throwing and decided to commando crawl up and down underneath the web (great exercise so not complaining) and the middle one decided he was going to find his nerf gun and see how many spiders he could shoot down. This then progressed into seeing how many bullets he could get to stick to the web and how many it took to take the web down. Great target practice if you’re planning to work for MI5.

Once we’d decided we’d had enough, there was a huge fight over who got to clear it all up(!).
Odd children.
It soon transpired it’s because they wanted to be the first to run through and destroy the web and then see who could get the most tape stuck to their socks…

So all in all I’d say this was a roaring success!

Fantastic idea…am putting it on my wet weather list for my boys. Thanks!
Thank you Vikki and yes it’s a good reason to get a big playdate going!
Great idea 🙂 Thanks for sharing it on #bigfatlinky
Great fun!! Great idea!!! My girls will love that I’m sure!! xx #bigfatlinky
Hopefully it will keep them amused for AGES 🙂
Genius – that is all xx
I totally agree. If only I’d invented it in the first place 😉
What a FAB idea and looks great fun – for the adults too – ha ha! Thanks for linking up to #SundayStars Jess x
Er yes, I have to admit I may have had LOTS of goes…!
I like the idea of the nerf Target practice after!!
And clean up seems easy enough to have a kid run through it. until tape gets in someone’s hair.
I will have to give this a try!
Ah yes, didn’t think about the hair thing! Let me know of any pitfalls you discover if you do it!
What a clever idea for a craft and it certainly sounds like the kids had a great time. I can’t wait to try this at our house. #bigfatlinky
Thanks Rob and yes it’s great isn’t it? I particularly loved the clean up time!
That’s genius! One to try during the summer holidays! Thank you
If you can get them to set it all up themselves too then all the better!!! Thank you for popping in x
So much fuuuuuuuuuun! Can I come and play at your house??? 😉 xx
You definitely can! I was so dreadful at this and mostly missed the stairs altogether! I blame my relative height….
Yargh! You’re such a fun mum! And a game that the children WANT to tidy up, two thumbs up 🙂
Thank you thought I never feel that I am particularly fun and it’s always a combo of rummaging on the internet and scraping the barrels of my brain! They did love this and bless them they do get excited about most things!
Love this idea! They look like they’re having a great time. Going to add this to my holiday entertainment list! Becky x
Hi Becky – oh yes great idea – to have a holiday list I mean! Can’t believe I didn’t think of that myself 🙂
