I love family traditions and I particularly love seeing the kids’ faces light up when they know what’s on the agenda and they’re anticipating the fun they’re going to have. We have all sorts of traditions in our family: big ones, little ones, going to the park ones, Christmas ones, eating ones, shopping ones etc. I love them all. The best thing is that most of them seem to just evolve with no thought or effort whatsoever! One of the kids’ favourite Christmas traditions is their candle-lit bath on Christmas Eve. What could be easier than that??
As of yesterday, we now have a new ‘going to the park one’. The kids are always begging us to play chase. I’ve no idea why they don’t get bored of seeing their unfit mother clutching on to various pieces of handy park equipment for support, shouting ‘I’m coming to get you’, or seeing their Dad run after them looking like something out of the deep. I actually think teenagers should put themselves forward for this in exchange for some pocket money. They’d make a bomb.
This weekend I decided to stop being so pathetic and shake it up a bit. On went my bright red lipstick and on went my fastest pair of converses… Oldest boy (6) can’t think of anything more disgusting than being kissed in public, particularly by lips that look like that. The game went up to a whole new level. Superb. I can totally recommend it. Definitely no denying when they’ve been ‘got’. One thing this pic has highlighted though – it’s very important to take the lippy to the park for top ups. Must ensure maximum embarrassment levels are maintained at all times.
