The kids have been so excited all day at the prospect of advent and Elfie season starting again tomorrow. Advent 2014 begins!
They’ve made cards, cut snowflakes out of anything flat and drawn pictures for Elfie. I always look at them and think ‘ah how lovely’ and then (mostly) remember in the nick of time that I have to actually remove them and hide them away! One time I forgot and the kids were mortified. They thought that Elfie hadn’t taken them away with her because she didn’t like them. Norty Mummy.
So tonight, I started this year’s file for Elfie’s fan mail (I know what our kids are like) and prepared their letter & map ensemble for tomorrow. I’ve crumpled both the map and the letter up a bit, spilt black coffee across one corner and then ripped the actual corner off. It all looks fabulous I must say. I really can’t wait to see what the kids will make of it all in the morning when they find their letter.
Elfie’s first Christmas letter is hidden in the depths of our shoe ladder. I got the idea from a friend who found an old vintage ladder stuffed up in the attic when they moved in. I saw it and realised that having a shoe ladder was the answer to all my dreams. So I went straight on to eBay and found one for nothing at all. I’m always totally astonished by the number of shoes (and coats) that we have. Us laydeez have a bad reputation for ‘needing’ a coat, bag and shoe for all weathers but then when you have kids in the house too, it gets completely out of control. The boys have two pairs each – one for summer and one for winter. Our daughter on the other hand has 8 different types of footwear on it. Admittedly some of these are related to summer and I can’t give them away until she’s officially grown out of them (a personal problem I know)- and a shoe ladder IS the perfect place to store shoes. So it will just have to continue bulging until she’s grown…
Please do email us with any ideas you’ve had with your set of Elfie’s Christmas Letters and send us any photos or post them on our Facebook, Twitter and/or Google + pages!
Wishing you all a very happy and exciting start to Elfie Season. Advent 2014 begins!
