Childhood is full of wonder, and here at International Elf Service, we believe in keeping that magic alive for as long as possible.
Whether it’s a whispered wish to a hidden Fairy, excitedly waiting for a visit from the Easter Bunny, a mysterious letter from the North Pole or a sprinkle of Wizard Magic … these moments create memories that last a lifetime.
We’ve put together 18 enchanting ways to bring a little extra magic into everyday life—perfect for families who love a touch of mystery, imagination, and festive fun all year round!
18 Creative Ways To Keep Childhood Magic Alive:
1. Enchanted Food & Drinks
Turn everyday snacks into magical treats—‘Goblin Milk’ (milk with a drop of natural food colouring), ‘Elf or Fairy Biscuits’ (tiny cookies) or ‘Wizard’s Hot Chocolate’ with a sprinkle of edible glitter.

2. Magical Footprints & Signs
Use flour, baking soda, or eco-friendly glitter to create tiny Elf or Fairy footprints leading to a surprise discovery.
3. Themed ‘Magic Door’ Adventures
A small Elf or Fairy door can “transport” magical visitors to and from your home, leaving behind tiny notes or surprises.

4. Hidden Whispers & Messages
Use invisible ink (lemon juice and heat) or glow-in-the-dark pen messages to leave secret notes from magical creatures!
5. Surprise Storytelling
Start a bedtime story but let an “unknown author” (aka you!) add secret twists inspired by your child’s day—perhaps the Easter Bunny or an Elf are writing new chapters!
6. Moonbeam Messages
Write a secret message with a white crayon on white paper. When your child paints over it with watercolours, the message appears as if by magic.
7. A Special Delivery of a Letter from a Magical Place
Surprise your child with a beautifully crafted letter from the Easter Bunny, the Fairies, an Elf or Father Christmas … or the wisest Wizard of all time …
8. Nature’s Hidden Magic
Encourage your child to find Fairy rings (mushrooms), gnome houses (tree hollows) or Elf doors (knotholes) in nature. You can leave tiny “clues” like notes or pebbles with mysterious symbols … or a letter written by an actual Fairy!

9. A ‘Magic Watch’ for Special Moments
Give your child an old watch or locket and tell them it’s enchanted—whenever they hold it and make a wish, magic is quietly working in the background.
10. Enchanted Treasure Hunts
Create a mini treasure hunt with riddles, clues, and a “magical” prize—perhaps a Fairy stone, an Elf’s lost button, or a Wizard’s hidden charm.
11. Wishing Stones
Find smooth pebbles and tell your child they’re wishing stones. They can whisper a wish to the stone and leave it in nature for the fairies, elves, or a kind wind to carry away. Or, for even more magic – make your own Magical Wishing Stones.

12. The Disappearing Treat Trick
Leave out a cookie, a tiny drink, or a piece of fruit for an elf, fairy, or magical creature overnight. By morning, it’s nibbled—or gone completely!
13. Talking Trees & Whispers from the Wind
Encourage your child to whisper secrets to a special tree, telling them that trees have ancient magic and might whisper back (rustling leaves count!).
14. Floating Fairy Lights
Fill a jar with fairy lights or glow sticks and call it “captured Fairy Glow” or “North Pole Magic.” Let your child release the magic by opening the lid.

15. The ‘Magic Sock’ Mystery
Place a tiny sock or mitten somewhere unusual and claim it’s been left behind by an elf or other tiny magical visitor. Let your child guess what happened.
16. Birthday Wishes from the North Pole
For their birthday, arrange for a Fairy or a North Pole friend (an Elf) to send a special birthday message or gift, reminding them they’re celebrating too!

17. A Magical Star-Watching Night
On a clear night, go outside and “look for signs” of magical beings—shooting stars, twinkling lights, or “messages” in the constellations.
18. The Secret Key
Give your child an old-fashioned key and tell them it unlocks something magical—an imaginary land, a secret adventure, or a hidden world that only they can see.
