How about joining up with other families for an amazingly magical experience – to make a community landing strip to guide Father Christmas to your street or area? Make it as small or big as an event as you like. It could involve just close friends, neighbours, your village … however you want to do it.
You really don’t want to risk Father Christmas getting lost (or worse, crash) at the critical moment! It’s super easy to do: you just pop tea lights into empty jam jars, and lay them out in ‘run way’ lines.
Wouldn’t it be amazing if this was done all over the country, the world?

You can write on the invitation whatever you like …
Where: By the big white house on Canal Street.
Time: Christmas Eve at 4:30pm
Bring: Jam Jar, Candle and a Mug of Hot Chocolate
The kids will love all the excitement and festive community spirit. Christmas Eve is so magical for them, and to be part of something like this will definitely get lodged in their childhood Christmas memory bank. Very firmly.
How about making a really big deal out of it, and getting some sparklers, hot chocolate and mulled wine on the go? Go easy on the mulled wine though, or you won’t spot little Johnny setting fire to either his gloves, or little Sally’s hair.
Enjoy a big lighting ceremony, and then get all the kids to lay their lights down on the ground to make the landing strip. It doesn’t matter if it isn’t perfect, or straight. As long as there’s enough room for the Sleigh, and the reindeer to come bouncing in if when Father Christmas misjudges the speed.
Father Christmas rarely flies straight anyway. And last year all hell broke loose when he went wildly off course (due to an issue with Rudolph’s antler), and crashed into the Sleigh Shed. The question is … will the Sleigh be fixed in time for this Christmas Eve?
Then all you need to do, is really enjoy beautiful smiley excited faces, before going home to get ready for THE VISIT of the year …
Don’t forget to leave a little something out for Father Christmas. You really don’t want a dehydrated and starving Santa on your conscience.
And if you’re lucky, he may leave you with some pressies and a Santa Letter!
