If you’re looking for a fantastically fun family Christmas Tradition as an alternative to a Visiting Elf … ‘Mouse in the House’ will make your countdown to Christmas magical for your whole family – and even help to keep the magic alive for your older children!
Christmas traditions are the most magical and wonderful way to bring families together, from decorating the tree, to singing Christmas songs and baking delicious treats throughout Advent. But there’s really nothing better than a game during the Christmas Countdown to get everyone in the Christmas Spirit. Having a Visiting Elf is one Christmas tradition you may be familiar with, but there are many families who choose not to have one – some find it hard to come up with daily creative ideas and others prefer something more traditional.
So if you’re looking for a magical alternative to the Visiting Elf Christmas tradition, we have just the thing here at International Elf Service. It’s quirky fun for all the family and also works really well with Elfie’s Christmas Advent Calendar Letters if you’d like your letters to appear with a Christmas mouse or another type of creature. We call it “Mouse in the House”! It’s really simple and everyone’s bound to get involved, no matter what age they are!
When we play at the Elves’ Workshop, we use a gorgeous Christmas mouse (hence the name of the game), but you can also use a Woodland Elf, a Glowing Elf or anything else you have already that can easily move about your home – even a favourite lego or playmobil character!
- Someone (usually the youngest in the household) puts the “Mouse” somewhere in full view so everyone can see it. This could be on a shelf, in someone’s shoe, on the windowsill, under (or hanging) from the Christmas Tree, or on the mantelpiece above the fireplace.
- Now the fun part! … The aim is to move the “Mouse” to another spot each day without anyone seeing you do it. If you’re caught … well you just mustn’t be!
- The goal is to make people smile when they come across the mouse – aiming to find even more obscure places for other family members (or even visitors) to stumble upon it!
We’d love to see some of the funny places you’ve hidden your mouse so please share your photos with us on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram!
Happy Hiding!
And our Christmas Mice have been especially trained to deliver Elfie’s Christmas Advent Calendar Letters and our other personalised Christmas Letters …
