How Does Father Christmas Know?

Father Christmas and the International Elf Service

Not all children receive letters from the North Pole, and that is because the Elves and Father Christmas are so busy getting everything ready for the Big Delivery on Christmas Eve, there’s only time to send out 2,654,789 letters each year.

So how does Father Christmas choose which children will be the recipients of North Pole Christmas Letters and Personalised Christmas Elf Letter Bundles? Well, even though he has his own computer (and lots of help from Elf Lyra, his super duper technology whizz) he still uses a most old-fashioned way to decide. He watches while the Postmaster General writes out an extremely long list of names on an even longer rolled-up piece of paper. As the Postmaster General unrolls the scroll, he runs his finger slowly down the list and waits for the signal. Every so often the assistant Christmas Elf shouts out "That one!" at the top of their voice and Father Christmas writes down the name and details of the chosen children.

And then, of course, the best thing of all is when Father Christmas visits on Christmas Eve. Even though he's super busy delivering all the Christmas presents and Christmas gifts, he always tries to find time to leave behind his Father Christmas Feedback Form (to thank the children for the snack they left). And for the really lucky ones, he sometimes writes a personalised letter for Christmas Morning. It's so VERY exciting to receive any of the letters via the International Elf Service, but particularly one from Father Christmas himself!

Father Christmas or Santa Claus?
